Rajaji National Park is situated
in the state of Uttarakhand, now known as Uttarakhand. The
picturesque beauty and rich biodiversity of the park serve as
its major attractions for both nature lovers as well as wildlife
enthusiasts. In the year 1983, Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuary
of Uttaranchal was merged with Motichur and Chilla wildlife
sanctuaries and made into Rajaji National Park. The park has
been named after Late Sri C. Rajgopalachari (also known as
Rajaji), a famous freedom fighter and first governor general of
India Rajaji National Park of India spreads over an area of
820.42 sq km and is open to visitors only from Mid-November to
National Park, which is around 8 kms from Rishikesh to view
a good elephant population. You can spot other animals also
including nilgai, wild boar, spotted deer, and sambhar here.
Rajaji National Park offers you wild beauty and rich
biodiversity. This is a heaven for nature lovers and wildlife
lovers. Spread across an area of 820 sq. meters, the best time
to visit this place is from Mid- Nov to Mid June.
The way from Delhi to Rajaji
National Park is via Meerut, Khatauli, Muzaffar Nagar, Roorkee,
Haridwar to Chilla located on the other side of the river Ganges

airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun, 35km. Jolly Grant Airport
which is only a few kilometers away from the Northern Boundary
of the Park has a daily 55 minutes flight from Delhi.

National Park is 220 kms. from Delhi & from Lucknow it is at a
distance of 510km.Chilla is 8 Km. from Haridwar Railway Station

Rajaji National Park is situated
along the hills and foothills of Shivalik ranges in the
Himalayan foothills and represents the Shivalik eco-system. On
the map it is located between Haridwar (Latitude 290 56’ 40”)
and Dehradun (Latitude 300 20’ North) and 790 80’ E Longitude
(Dehradun 780 01’ 15” E (Ramgarh), Chillawali- 770 54’ 30”
East). Altitude: 300 meters to 1350 meters
Nanda Devi Sanctuary
Nanda Devi National Park is situated in Chamoli district of
Uttarakhand. The spectacular panoramas of peaks encircling the
National Park are Trishul (7120 m) Dunagiri (7066 m) Nanda Devi
(7817 m) Nanda Devi East (7430 m) Bethartoli (6352 m) etc.. The
beautiful surroundings with abundant flora and fauna like Brahma-Kamal
and Bharal (blue mountain goat) make this a sanctuary of nature.
In 1982 access to trekkers into the Nanda Devi National Park was
banned to protect its biodiversity. The Nanda Devi National
Park, which has been declared a world heritage site, has been
partially opened recently for restricted number of tourist.
Sir Edmund Hillary, in his autobiography, has described that the
“Nanda Devi Sanctuary is God-gifted wilderness-India’s-training
ground for adventure”……
From Rishikesh to Joshimath is a 253 km drive followed by a
further drive of 25 km to the road head at Lata village where
the trek begins.
The park will remain open for a period of six months from 1st
May and close on 31st October.
Corbett National Park
Situated in the forested foothills of the Himalayas in
Uttarakhand, the Corbett National Park is seven hours drive from
Delhi. Spread across 520 sq kms, this park boasts of flat
valleys, hilly ridges and rolling grasslands. Corbett is famous
for tigers and large herds of wild elephants.
Corbett is home to 50 species of mammals, with 580 different
kinds of birds and 25 reptiles. You can also see long-nosed
Gharials and crocodiles basking on the banks of the river.
